Coloring ideas for this drawing

  • A brown tabby coat: three tones, lightest on the chest.
  • Two greens for the ferns, so the ground has depth.
  • Bark in a flat brown, kept duller than the cat.

A Maine Coon stands among the tree trunks, tufted ears up, the heavy plumed tail held low behind it, with ferns and leaves crowding the ground on either side.

The breed is the largest of the domestic cats and was bred for North American winters, which is exactly what the coat on this drawing says. This is the busiest sheet of the collection, and the one to keep for an afternoon rather than a spare half hour. A slimmer silhouette, bred for the opposite climate, sits a page away.
